Blithesome Odyssey

Early in the morning we had already arrived at Saint Yoseph School, Bali. We did a minute-presentations for each class, from 10th grade until 12th grade, about things related to Miss UMN. Glad to see them in an atmosphere of curiosity. Actually it had spent almost a half day due to more than 20 classes to be visited. Yet seeing their passion and enthusiasm helps push an energy to live the rest of the day.

We needed to play harder. Thereupon we went to a turtle Island and playing Banana Boat. I wish I had a sweet burn of sun and a summer wind, but too bad it was so clouded over, and for the umpteenth time we had no luck to see the sunset due to an annoying drizzle. However we made the most of every moment by getting excited about every single thing.

Tables on the beach, sitting on a beachfront, sound of the waves and feasting on fresh and delicious seafood. It was just too perfect! We had our dinner on our final night in Bali at Jimbaran. Actually it is my most favorite spot for having a dinner in Bali. I think Jimbaran has become a local darling. I have never skipped this spot for having a dinner, at least once, when I’m on a vacation in Bali. They serve the most mouth watering Balinese seafood in town.

For the second round, we went to Potato Head Beach Club, which has been reviewed as a must see destination in Bali. From the moment you arrive at this place you know you are in for a treat. It is known not only for its modern versions of classic international dishes, but also for its inviting atmosphere with a huge garden, pool and planters along its outdoor seating space. We walked down and take a few photos on the beach for celebrating our final night. Too sad to be true, but it was such a perfect ending.

I started a beautiful morning and ended up with a successful and blessed day. This trip consists of spending quality time with people who matter most, having fun and making new and irreplaceable memories which live on forever and become unforgetable.

Gaiety Visage

When the sun comes up, it was such a cheerful invitation to make the day counts. We started our second day by visiting a foundation which inaugurated an extraordinary school, named Dria Raba. Dria Raba does not only reserved for students with blindness, but it also opens for students with special needs, including among children with autism, hyper active, retardation, multiple disabilities and children who have a disorder because of their low concentrations studied. Here, we were accompanied by Leo's Club Bali.

I was deeply moved when I saw them lined up in a row together, holding hands each other, and singing with all their heart to welcome our presence. Behind their existing deficiencies, they are able to rise. For me, they are such an outstanding children with an outstanding aptitudes. We learned a lot from their determination. What a precious time that we all had together.

Hereinafter, we were invited by friends of Leo's Club to watch a show of Teruna Teruni of a high school nearby. Bassically, Teruna Teruni is tourism ambassador of Bali province. But Teruna Teruni that we watched was an event that took place in a high school, only in a small scope. I guess that their vision and mission are almost the same as Miss UMN’s.

For the purpose of looking for some fresh air, we went to Petitenget Beach. I think that it is one of the quietest beach that I’d ever been. I mean, without local traders (only at the outer of the coast, even only for snacks and beverages). As much as I know, foreigners are not allowed to sunbathe or swim as it is sacred to the Balinese due to it is located just in front of a temple area. They often have ceremonies.

It is such a great place to catch the sunset I guess. Unfortunately, we had no luck to see an exoticism of Bali’s twilight with its legendary sunset. But it was not really matter. We spent hours with full of archness and hoots of laughter. Besides, time we enjoy wasting is not wasted time. At least for me, it's all that matters.

Voyages of Discovery

Here comes our best gift of winning Miss UMN 2013. We (Miss UMN, Runner up I & II, Miss Multimedia, Miss Friendship, and also the committees) took a short-term-sweet-escape to the simply world's best island, Bali. I do always feel excited about a vacation to Bali, even though I've been there over 10 times with my families.

We took off around 8 am and flied with Citilink as our flight link. We landed around 10.30 am (Bali time) and went straight to Beachwalk, Kuta. We didn’t take too long at the mall for we went on foot straight to the Kuta Beach. Here, the scorching sunshine welcomed our first day in Bali. A bunch of picturesque remembrance danced on my mind as I stepped on the sands. A coast always able to make anyone pensive.

Then we went to Tanah Lot. It seems like Tanah Lot has become a place-that-should-be-in-a-list for the visitors who are on their vacation to Bali. I think what makes it really attractive is the temple which sits on a large offshore rock which has been shaped continuously over the years by the ocean tide. To reach the temple, visitors must walk through a set of Balinese souvenir shops which cover each side of the path down to the sea. On the mainland cliff tops, restaurants have also been provided. We did a minute-shopping after spoiling our eyes with views of the beach and also the fizzle-out-sunset.

We closed our midnight by playing splash at The Gatra. Everyone was forced to fall into the pool. It was such a super high quality moment that we had at our first night and we’d only got a couple hours of sleep. And I have to say that I did not have any regret for any single moment of the day.

And just by glancing at this photo, makes me, Gosh! I wish I had a time machine.

When the nature of Modernization Meets Ethnical

Too sad to be true for refusing quite a lot of job due to the myriad activities lately. Until finally, I've met a perfect time to back into such a photoshoot with its own picturesque theme which previously has disappeared. And here we go, I have had a photoshoot with modern ethnic theme.

And... How do ya think? ;)

Awarding Night

Wednesday, Oct 9th 2013 was a day when we, the Top 20 of Grand Finalists Miss UMN 2013, had an Awarding Night. I think it was one of the most resplendent night ever which had been held by UMN. Our hard work had been paid off for everything was pretty well-running that night.

Awarding Night was started at 6.30 pm. My Mom, Dad, brothers, beloved ladies and gentleman came for gave me their sweetest support. I felt awesome that night because I knew that they were by my side since my very first footsteps on the stage.

Our first performance was a parade. All girls looked super beautiful, as well as the night gowns. We also perfomed a traditional dance in those gowns.

Then, here is the announcement of the Top 10. We were given the first question for each of us in this step. The questions were compiled by the other 10 finalists who were not listed as the Top 10.

What do you think about the role of women in an effort to preserve the culture of Indonesia?

I think womankind is a very influential figure in preserving the culture of Indonesia. Because womankind is such a figure who is deeply close to the aesthetic value. So it makes we are so sympathetic and sensitive to the cultural survival in Indonesia. If it does not us as Indonesian woman, who else would preserve the existing culture?

I got so many compliments from finalist friends and also the committee for the answer. According to them, my answer was too brilliant. Glad to know that. The answer gave me one step further to the Top 5 due to I’ve got the best score. Here, we, once again, were given a question for each of us, and the questions were compiled by the judges.

What do you think about the influence of Blackberry Messenger app that can be accessed on Android and Iphone?

I think Blackberry Messenger app on Android and Iphone could creates a more smoothly communication flow. Then it makes the exchange of the whole world information could more easily done. And finally it creates modern, creative, intelligent, and insightful young souls.

Actually I didn’t think that my answer was such a good answer. I was hesitant. But how thankful I am that I was finally announced as the Top 3. Since the very first time I gave my answer to the audience and judges, everybody said that I performed really really confidently, without any single word that sounds strange and complicated to be said. It was really well-running since the begining. I admit that I have a pretty good public speaking ability. I realized it since there were pretty much lecturers who commend me directly when I do presentations in classes.

I must say that I'm deeply in love with this Modern Kebaya. This kinda gorgeous apparel belongs to Kanu Exclusive Design. How awesome it is!

Gloria, Clara, Emily

The last step, we, once again, were given a final question. We’ve got the same question. That was about vission, mission, and programs. Here is my answer.

I really have a big desire to be reborned as an elected lady who uphold intelligence, behavior, and beauty. And if I am given an opportunity to be Miss UMN 2013, I really really want to have a contribution to the Multimedia Nusantara University which is on its way to be more creative and innovative. I’ll do that by involving UMN into national and international events. So that I can introduce and scent the name of Multimedia Nusantara University in the field of education, social, and cultural.

Here is the moment which was most eagerly awaited, the announcement of the winner. Gloria was called at the first time for she was named as Runner Up 2. And taadaaaa….. congratulations for Clara Alverina who was named as The First Lady in Diversity. Proud of you, dear!

I had no idea at all that I could come this far. At first, I thought that I just might be able to stand up for Top 5. But I kept take one step further to the Top 3 and I was finally named as Runner Up 1. A little shocked at the first time when I realized that I joined this competition due to a kinda “forcing” by friends. It was not a lot of desire of mine at the first time actually. I thought HE has just got a beautiful plan for me. I mean this is not a coincidence, and HE has a purpose for these all allowed to happen.

Mommy, Emily, Daddy

I dedicated these kinda little steps to my most incredible man and lady in the world. They mean world to me. Thanks for always be by my side, thanks for your nonstop support, counsel, affection, and also scrumble that you two have given to me since my very first step. How blessed and thankful I am for having you two in my life! There is no other words could be more appropriate to be said except thanks, thanks, and thanks.
